Step-by-Step UAN Activation Process
Visit Member Interface
Open the official EPFO Unified Portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and click on Activate UAN under Important Links.
Enter Personal Details
Enter your 12-digit UAN, 12-digit Aadhaar Number, Name, Date of Birth, and Mobile Number exactly as registered in your Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar OTP Authorization
Click "Get Authorization PIN". An OTP will be delivered to the mobile number registered with UIDAI Aadhaar database.
Set Password & Complete
Enter the OTP, validate your details, and receive your temporary activation password via SMS. Change your password on initial login.
Common Activation Mistakes to Avoid
- Name/DOB Mismatch: If your name in employer records differs from your Aadhaar card (e.g. spelling or initials), activation will fail. Update your Aadhaar or submit a Joint Declaration through your employer.
- Mobile Number Mismatch: OTP is routed to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, not the phone number registered with your company HR.
- Passbook Access Lag: Allow 6 hours after activation before attempting to view your passbook on
passbook.epfindia.gov.in.
