UPI Limits — FAQ

Can banks set a lower UPI limit than NPCI?

Yes. NPCI sets the maximum permitted limit. Individual banks can set lower limits for their customers based on risk assessment and customer profile. Check your bank app for your specific UPI limit.

Are UPI limits the same for all payment apps?

No. UPI limits can vary by payment app (PhonePe, GPay, Paytm) because the underlying limit is set by the bank whose account is linked. The app's own TPAP (Third Party Application Provider) agreement with NPCI may also impose limits.

Does the UPI limit reset daily?

Yes. The daily transaction limit typically resets at midnight. The per-transaction limit is independent of the daily limit. Both apply simultaneously.
